Jamie Lloyd quits Back To The Future

Director Jamie Lloyd has withdrawn from directing the highly anticipated forthcoming musical adaptation of Back To The Future.

The Artistic Director of the Trafalgar Transformed season has left the project under amicable circumstances, telling the Daily Mail it was due to creative differences, saying “[It is] just a case of wanting to stand by my vision.”

The production, which will bring the story made famous by Michael J Fox in the cult 1985 film to the stage for the first time, has not yet announced a new director. It has confirmed, however, that the original film’s creators Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis are still on board as writers and that the show is on course to open during Back To The Future’s 30th anniversary year.

The first instalment in what became one of the 1980s most successful film series, Back To The Future tells the story of Marty McFly, a schoolboy wannabe musician in 1980s America whose friendship with mad scientist Dr Emmett Brown finds him transported back in time to 1955. His actions in the past have a disturbing effect on his future parents, and so his entire existence. It’s a race against time to set the past straight and get back to the future.

Exact dates, a venue and casting are yet to be announced.
