Inspiring the Future of Theatre is a wide-reaching industry initiative launched in July 2018 by UK Theatre and the Society of London Theatre (SOLT) in partnership with charity Education and Employers, which forms part of UK Theatre and SOLT’s Workforce Development Strategy.
As part of this initiative, #InspiringFutureTheatre Day is an annual celebration of the amazing work theatre professionals do across the UK to inspire young people, communities and schools.
Theatre and the performing arts are part of the creative industries, which before the pandemic were worth £92bn, and were growing at twice the rate of the economy. UK Theatre and SOLT believe that if the sector is to continue to thrive, it must draw on the talent base, and build audiences, from all areas of society, now more than ever.
To achieve this ambitious project, SOLT, UK Theatre and Education and Employers launched a drive in 2018 to recruit industry ambassadors who will be matched with schools across the UK, taking part in events to lay the groundwork for young people to later make informed and ambitious career decisions.
Search for #InspiringFutureTheatre on social media and discover all the amazing work theatres and theatre companies do to inspire young people in communities and schools, or discover more about the inspirational people who work in theatre.
Many theatres have committed to remaining connected to their audiences and communities even while in lockdown, and searching #InspiringFutureTheatre will also show you some of this important work that’s been done.
