In rehearsal: Prism

First Published 22 August 2017, Last Updated 22 August 2017

An all-star cast including Robert Lindsay, Claire Skinner, Rebecca Night and Barnaby Kay are preparing to bring Terry Johnson’s witty and poignant new play Prism to the Hampstead Theatre, so we’ve shed some light on the rehearsals.

Based on the extraordinary life of double Oscar-winning cinematic master Jack Cardiff (An African Queen, The Red Shoes, Black Narcissus), Prism sees Lindsay star as legendary cinematographer Jack, ‘the man who made women look beautiful’, surrounded by memorabilia from a lifetime of ‘painting with light’ and writing an autobiography.

But what should prove a straightforward task is anything but, as Jack would now rather live in the past than remember it. He instead yearns for his days of hard work – and play – on some of the most famous sets in the world, as well as his secret liaisons with some of the most famous women in the world.

Prism will play at the Hampstead Theatre from 6 September – 14 October. You can book your tickets through the venue’s website.
