It’s the diplomacy drama which was the toast of Broadway with its multi-award winning run – and now, preparations for the European premiere of Oslo, starring Toby Stephens, are well underway.
Having scooped ‘Best Play’ at the 2017 Tony Awards, and being awarded every ‘Best Play’ award on Broadway this season including those given by New York Drama Critics’ Circle, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Drama League, Obie and Lucille Lortel Awards, J T Rogers’ gripping new drama is sure to cause a splash on this side of the Atlantic.
Directed by Bartlett Sher, Oslo is based on the true events which led to the leaders of Israel and Palestine shaking hands on the lawn of the White House in 1993 with the eyes of the world watching.
But negotiations actually started in the covert setting of a castle just outside Oslo, with a young Norwegian couple – portrayed in the show by Lydia Leonard and Stephens – orchestrating these high-level meetings.
Featuring dozens of characters and set in locations across the globe, Oslo is both a political thriller and the personal story of a small band of women and men struggling together – and fighting each other – as they seek to change the world.
