She has played Bond girls on screen, tragic heroines on stage and even showcased her presenting skills at this year’s Olivier Awards with MasterCard, but next month marks the debut of a skill as yet unseen by one of the UK’s most high profile actors.
We are, of course, talking about the hugely talented Gemma Arterton and her musical debut in the world premiere of Made In Dagenham.
Under the direction of one of the busiest men in theatre, the Almeida Theatre’s Artistic Director Rupert Goold, there are just weeks until the musical hits the West End and, from these intriguing photos of rehearsals by photographer Manuel Harlan, the company look like they are hard at work in preparation.
Telling the real story of a group of women who went on strike for equal pay in 1968 at Ford’s Dagenham plant, Harlan captured the moment the Made In Dagenham cast were visited by the inspirational real-life heroes behind this society-altering tale, as well as offering us plenty of room for speculation with a tantalising snapshot of the all-important set box and the full company mid-song.
