Something wicked this way comes… it’s Joseph Millson, Samantha Spiro and the cast of Shakespeare’s Globe’s Macbeth preparing their production.
Double, double toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble… We would never ever say that Olivier Award-winning actress Eve Best is a witch. Never. Let’s make that clear. But for the sake of a handy analogy, she is, like the famous wicked women of Macbeth, the directorial sorceress throwing ingredients into the cooking pot of the Shakespeare’s Globe’s rehearsal room.
A pinch of leading man Joseph Millson (Macbeth), a large dose of diminutive stage siren Samantha Spiro (Lady Macbeth), a hint of former hobbit Billy Boyd (Banquo), a hefty dollop of strong supporting cast and, undoubtedly some eye of newt and toe of frog too.
Before Best’s creation takes to the stage for its first preview this weekend, photographer Ellie Kurttz snuck into the rehearsal room to capture the magic happening.
