Get a first glimpse of Bond star Ben Whishaw as an aerospace billionaire who sets out to change the world in these first rehearsal pics for the Almeida Theatre’s Against.
A gripping new play by Christopher Shinn directed by Ian Rickson, Against sees violence stand in the way of Luke’s (played by Whishaw) plans to realise a glorious ambition, with a full cast including Fehinti Balgoun, Elliot Barnes-Worrell, Nancy Crane, Emma D’Arcy, Amanda Hale, Kevin Harvey, Adelle Leonce, Martin McDougall, Philippe Spall, Gavin Spokes, Ben Whishaw and Naomi Wirthner.
Against marks the return of Whishaw to the Almeida stage, following the critically acclaimed Bakkhai at the North London venue. His other theatre credits include The Crucible on Broadway, and Mojo and Peter And Alice in the West End, but he is best known for starring on-screen in films Spectre and Skyfall, as well as his BAFTA Award-winning performance in the BBC adaptation of Richard II.
Writer Christopher Shinn makes his Almeida debut with Against. His previous play Teddy Ferrara was produced at the Donmar Warehouse in 2015 directed by Dominic Cooke, and his adaptation of Hedda Gabler premiered on Broadway in 2009, also directed by Rickson.
Against plays at the Almeida Theatre from Saturday 12 August – Saturday 30 September. You can book your tickets through the venue’s website.
