In rehearsal: Accolade

Published 28 October 2014

You can tell it’s getting chillier in the capital when rehearsal rooms are displaying the latest winter knitwear trends.

Patterned scarves, warm cardies and woolly socks all make an appearance in the Accolade rehearsal room, where Blanche McIntyre and her cast are preparing for the forthcoming run of Emlyn Williams’ play at the St James Theatre.

Among McIntyre’s models – I mean cast members – are Alexander Hanson, Abigail Cruttenden, Bruce Alexander and Sam Clemmett, who can be seen getting into character in Ben Broomfield’s images above.

Following the story of author Will Trenting, whose knighthood attracts the glare of the British press, Accolade sees private and public worlds collide as Will is forced to battle against the exposure of his secret life and the double standards of a society bent on destroying him.

The tale of sex, scandal and blackmail, which completes the One Stage season that also includes current hit Uncle Vanya, begins previews at the St James Theatre on 12 November, playing until 13 December.
