There will always be room in Official London Theatre’s heart – and stomach – for cake, which is why we’re always thrilled to see shows celebrate theatrical milestones with a confectionary delight. We think Thriller Live might just have won this year’s best cake award, however, presented as it was by X Factor finalists Rough Copy with a host of the show’s Michael Jackson performers ready for a bite.
Last night the Jackson-themed cake was unveiled to mark an incredible 2,000 performances in the West End, a record-breaking feat at the show’s home at the Lyric theatre. To celebrate, the talented cast performed special never-before-seen treats for the 2,000th audience, with six of the young cast members taking to the stage together for the first time ever for a special rendition of Heal The World and a standing ovation awarded to Eshan Gopal, who plays a young Jackson in the show, when he performed the iconic Billie Jean with star David Jordan.
Since the theatrical concert opened its doors to fans of the pop sensation in January 2009, Thriller Live has been seen by more than one million people in the West End, as well as touring across the world to 26 countries, bringing Jackson’s moonwalking, legendary songs and mind-blowing choreography to life in the continually evolving tribute.
