In pictures: Stomp’s 13th birthday gala

Stomp, the cacophonous West End sensation, already feels a little like a 13-year-old. Certainly me as a 13-year-old.

All that banging and crashing and thumping about, misusing everything they can lay their hands on and generally feeling a little rebellious while actually behaving remarkably well. Yep, that’s pretty close to my early teenage years.

So it should come as no surprise that to celebrate entering its teens, Stomp invited all the cool kids around for a party. And they came.

This, by the way, is where the similarity with teenage me ends. I wouldn’t have even invited the cool kids for fear of retaliatory tie peanutting or bogwashing. I probably played Atmosfear. By myself. Happy days.

Not so with Stomp, who can count youthful TV presenter Tyger Drew-Honey, singers Tallia Storm and Elyar Fox, actors Dani Harmer and Dakota Blue Richards, and, possibly the coolest of the lot, vloggers Marcus Butler and Niomi Smart among its party guests.

I’m aware I’ve used ‘cool’ too much and now, if there was any doubt, am not… um… cool.

The collection of hip and trendy types turned out to celebrate the ongoing success of the unique show that takes the most mundane of objects and turns them into vessels for marvellous musical performance.

Take a look at the partygoers above.

You can then book to see the show that brought them together here.
