With Carey Mulligan and Bill Nighy appearing together on stage, the anticipation around Skylight is goosebump-inducing. It just got more piqued with the release of production shots.

Yes, we can finally see what the Bob Crowley-designed production will look like and enjoy a hint of the treat in store when the Hollywood stars, who are joined by Mulligan’s An Education co-star Matthew Beard, take to the stage.

David Hare’s Olivier Award-winning play, which premiered at the National Theatre in 1995, is the story of an unexpected visit. Set on a chilly evening in the capital, it is schoolteacher Kyra (Mulligan), who receives that visit, which comes from a former lover (Nighy) whose wife has recently died. As the evening goes on and they try to revive past passions, they find themselves caught in a dangerous battle of opposing ideologies and mutual desires.

The production photos, taken by John Haynes, look nothing if not cold enough to tempt us to pull on a jumper and mittens.

If they tempt you towards purchasing tickets, Skylight is currently previewing at the Wyndham’s Theatre where it runs until 23 August.
