How do you make a large group of theatrical types smile? Pop them on stage at the Theatre Royal Haymarket… which is what we did with this year’s Olivier Award nominees.
Luke Treadaway, Billie Piper, James McAvoy, Hattie Morahan, Rafe Spall and Room On The Broom’s canine star were among the nominees who came together to celebrate a fabulous year for London theatre and pose for a commemorative photograph amid the set and props of One Man, Two Guvnors.
Photographer Pamela Raith was on hand to take you behind the scenes of the iconic photo.
Thoughts now turn to the night of the ceremony itself, 28 April, when stars of the London stage and the wider entertainment world are invited to the Royal Opera House for an evening where prizes will be awarded and incredible one-off performances will take the breath away. Glee star Matthew Morrison and Broadway sensation Idina Menzel are among the stars already confirmed to perform, and there are more treats yet to be revealed.
You can follow the awards on the night by listening live to BBC Radio 2, following online, heading to Covent Garden Piazza for an incredible public celebration that will feature its own live performances and a big screen relay of events inside the Royal Opera House, or watch the fabulous highlights show that will be broadcast on ITV later in the evening. You can also get involved via social media by following the Olivier Awards on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and tagging your own posts with #oliviers.
