The excitement was palpable at the May Fair Hotel earlier this week as the nominees for the Olivier Awards 2013 with MasterCard were announced.
As I’m sure you know by now, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time led the way with eight nominations, but was swiftly followed by Top Hat (seven), Sweeney Todd (six), The Audience, Kiss Me, Kate (both five), Constellations, The Bodyguard and Twelfth Night (all four).
To ease the tension of the hour, the nominations were followed by the launch of the May Fair Hotel’s Oliviers Collection of cocktails, which include the Top Hat Apple Martini, The Bodyguard Blackcurrant Sling and the Chorus Line Colada. A Chorus Line’s Rebecca Herszenhorn and Ed Currie, Top Hat’s Kristen Beth Williams and Gavin Lee, and The Bodyguard’s Debbie Kurup and Mark Letheren were there to help celebrate the spectacular beverages that will be available at the May Fair Bar from 26 March to 28 April.

Nominees will have to wait until 28 April, when the Olivier Awards ceremony will take place at the Royal Opera House, to discover who has won. The glamorous event, hosted by two-time Olivier Award winner Sheridan Smith and Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville will feature award-giving, incredible performances and a plethora of stellar guests. Theatre fans can follow the action live by listening to BBC Radio 2 or heading down to the special public event in Covent Garden Piazza, and can see a fabulous highlights show on ITV following the ceremony.
