In pictures: Lord Of The Dance launch

As Michael Flatley prepares to jig his way back onto the London stage early next month, the Lord Of The Dance: Dangerous Games cast, including former Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle, took their impressive legs to the London Palladium to launch the show.

With more controlled kicking than a karate training session, Flatley’s dance creation has wowed more than 60 million theatre fans since it premiered in 1996. Roughly speaking that’s 4.3 million people each year to have been gob-smacked by the Irish dance spectacular that has played in every continent.

That’s pretty impressive in anyone’s book, but so is bringing a production to one of the world’s most iconic entertainment venues, the London Palladium.

For the West End run, which will be followed by a tour, Flatley has created a fresh staging for the show, with new music, choreography and costumes. He’s even added Irish songstress Coyle to the cast, giving a heft dollop of star power.

To celebrate, the show took to the Palladium stage for the first time this week, giving an exclusive performance for invited guests and posing for pictures. Brian Doherty was there to capture the moment.
