Impossible seeks child performers

First Published 3 July 2015, Last Updated 3 July 2015

West End magic show Impossible is on the search for children with a penchant for magic to take a starring role in the production when it premieres at the Noël Coward Theatre later this month.

Young wannabe conjurors aged between eight and 12-years-old, who are capable of playing a seven to eight-year-old, are invited to submit a video of up to 30 seconds about their passion for magic and why they’d like to be a part of the show.

The video should be sent to casting@JamieHendryProductions.com and accompanied by a short email from a parent or legal guardian providing the name, age, address and photograph of the child. All entrants must be comfortable performing in front of more than 900 people a night and be available to rehearse and perform from 13 July to 29 August.

Two lucky individuals will be chosen from an initial shortlist of 50 applicants to take on the hugely exciting role, which will see them portray a character who dreams of becoming a world-class magician.

The triumphant duo will join escapologist Jonathan Goodwin, mind-reader Chris Cox, psychological illusionist Katherine Mills, magician Ben Hart, digital marvel Jamie Allan, sleight of hand master Ali Cook and grand illusionist Luis de Matos to open the show and join in with what promises to be an astounding closing sequence.

Talking about his search to complete the show’s casting line-up, Impossible’s producer Jamie Hendry said: “This is a rare opportunity for a budding magician to join a team of world-class illusionists on stage as they perform a range a death-defying stunts and amazing tricks live in front of a West End theatre audience. They will get to see first-hand just how powerful and impressive magic can be, and hopefully this will be the start of their careers as stars of the future – it will certainly make for an interesting ‘what I did this summer report’ when they get back to school!”

Directed by Derren Brown collaborator Anthony Owen, Impossible will play at the Noël Coward Theatre from 24 July to 29 August, opening following the current hit run of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Death Of A Salesman.
