Magicians Den Den and David Williamson, known as The Manipulator and The Trickster, will join Britain’s Got Talent contestant Jamie Raven in the West End magic show The Illusionists, opening in London this autumn.
The performers complete a line-up, which also includes Andrew Basso (The Escapologist), Kevin James (The Inventor), Colin Cloud (The Deductionist) and Ben Blaque (The Warrior), that will entertain audiences at the Shaftesbury Theatre from 14 November.
Newly announced magical cast member Den Den was named Magician of the Year in 2014 by the Academy of Magical Arts – which is not where Hogwarts pupils go to university, we believe – for his dexterous, poetic approach to card trickery.
Williamson, a performer acclaimed by The International Brotherhood of Magicians – which is not an ancient guild shrouded in secrecy, we believe – has a reputation for combining a wit as quick as his eye-fooling fingers with feats that astound audiences.
Magical spectacular The Illusionists – Witness The Impossible is a worldwide phenomenon, having been staged in 71 cities across 17 countries.
Its London run will be a culmination of a summer/autumn of unprecedented magical entertainment on the London stage.
Hit production Impossible, which has made audience’s draws drop faster than Australian catch attempts in the Ashes this summer, draws its run in the capital to a close at the end of this month.
British magic superstar Derren Brown picks up the magical baton – a wand, if you will – in early November, when he brings his latest show Miracle to the Palace Theatre, before being joined in London by The Illusionists a few days later.
