The sun may be shining outside, but theatre company Antic Disposition is already thinking about December, when it will stage a new musical version of A Christmas Carol at Middle Temple Hall.
The traditional tale of festive redemption will play from 22 to 30 December, when boughs of holly will decorate the 16th century venue while the scent of roasting chestnuts and mulled wine wafts through its aisles.
Original songs based on a traditional Victorian Christmas will be used to tell the famous story of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge who, one Christmas Eve, is visited by a trio of ghosts helpfully haunting him in an attempt to convince him to change his ways.
It is hoped the historic setting, located amid the cobbled alleyways of London’s legal quarters, will help audiences feel as though they are stepping back into Dickens’ London and help lift their yuletide spirit.
A Christmas Carol marks the third time Antic Disposition has performed at Middle Temple Hall, following productions of Shakespeare’s The Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
