Haymarket & Hilton empower future

The Waldorf Hilton has announced a partnership with the charity Theatre Royal Haymarket – Masterclass Trust, giving young people an opportunity to develop business and life skills.

Devoted to using theatre as a platform to build confidence, strengthen self-esteem and nurture creativity, the charity was set up by the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 1998. Since then, they have worked tirelessly to inspire young people by working closely with leading figures from the arts.

The Waldorf Hilton has strong connections to Theatreland as a result of its close proximity to many of London’s leading theatres. Alongside the Hilton in the Community Foundation, the hotel raised more than £17,000 for Masterclass in 2015 through its fundraising efforts, and last year hosted TheatreCraft, the free behind-the-scenes careers fair for anyone aged 16-25.

Following the partnership announcement, those fundraising initiatives will continue as the hotel and its employees come together with the charity to help make a difference to the lives of young people in the capital.

Guy Hilton, General Manager, The Waldorf Hilton said: “It’s vitally important for us to give something back to the community and we’re very much looking forward to embarking on this new partnership.

“Masterclass are a small charity, but they have had a big impact on the lives of so many young people – whether that’s through workshops, apprenticeships or creative opportunities. The arts is a great way to engage and inspire, and we’re delighted to be part of such a fantastic initiative.”

Blayne George, Programme Director, Theatre Royal Haymarket Masterclass Trust added: “We are absolutely delighted to be chosen as the Waldorf Hilton’s charity partner for 2017. Theatre is one of the oldest forms of creativity and is one of the most important ways we can communicate and collectively share experiences.

“It is only through the very generous support of The Waldorf Hilton that Masterclass is able to continue giving young people free access to the professional world of theatre; encouraging and empowering them to have faith in their voice.”
