Hattie Morahan leads Changeling

First Published 15 October 2014, Last Updated 15 October 2014

Hattie Morahan will lead the cast of Dominic Dromgoole’s forthcoming production of The Changeling at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.

Starring as Beatrice-Joanna from 20 January, the role marks Morahan’s much-anticipated return to the stage following her critically acclaimed performance in Carrie Cracknell’s much-revered The Doll’s House at the Young Vic and in the West End.

The Evening Standard and Critics’ Circle Theatre Award-winning actor will play the central role in Thomas Middleton and William Rowley’s gruesome tragedy in which Beatrice-Joanna enters into a dark pact with De Flores. Paying a hideous and unexpected price for the murder of her betrothed in order that she might marry the man she loves, events spiral out of her control leading to tragic consequences.

Well known for her work both on stage and screen, Morahan takes on the famous anti-heroine following starring roles in Iphigenia, Time And The Conways and The Seagull at the National Theatre, The Real Thing at the Old Vic and The Family Reunion at the Donmar Warehouse.

She will be a familiar face to many for her many television appearances in series including Lark Rise To Candleford and Outnumbered, as well as the BBC’s acclaimed adaptation of Sense And Sensibility.

Further casting for The Changeling is still to be announced.
