The Young Vic has announced that Harry Enfield will make his theatre debut in Richard Jones’ production of Once In A Lifetime at the Young Vic. The award-winning comic actor will play Hollywood studio boss Glogauer, a role previously played by David Suchet in the 1979 Royal Shakespeare Company production and again in the 2005 National Theatre revival.
Joining Harry will Daniel Abelson, Claudie Blakley, Okorie Chukwu, Lucy Cohu, Lizzy Connolly, Buffy Davis, Otto Farrant, Amy Griffiths, Amanda Lawrence and John Marquez with further casting to be announced. Once In A Lifetime opens for previews on 25 November 2016.
Bryony Shanahan, recipient of a Genesis Future Directors Award, will direct debbie tucker green’s trade which will be performed in The Clare from 16 November. trade is the story of three women: The Novice played by Ayesha Antoine (Doctor Who), The Local played by Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Top Boy) and The Regular played by Jo Martin (NW) and offers an insight into their lives and the concept of financial and emotional trade.
The Young Vic also announced their first shows for 2015. Joe Hill-Gibbins will return to direct a dark production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream with set design by Johannes Schütz. The production promises to be a thrillingly nightmarish take on Shakespeare’s Dream. A Midsummer Night’s Dream will play the Young Vic’s Main House from 17 February to 1 April.
Also opening in February is See Me Now directed by Mimi Poskitt. The work will be performed by a company of current and former sex workers, and is based on workshops and testimony given by the performers. See Me Now runs from 11 February in The Maria.
