Lyric Hammersmith-produced shows have received three nominations in the 2007 Theatrical Management Association Theatre Awards, while other London theatres and productions are strongly represented. Shows seen at the Hampstead and Royal Court received two nominations, while the Soho, the National Theatre, the Roundhouse and Sadler's Wells are all represented.
The Lyric Hammersmith's production of the seven-hour epic Angels In America, co-produced with Headlong and Citizens' theatre, is nominated in the Best Director category (Daniel Kramer) and for Best Supporting Performance In A Play (Kirsty Bushell).
Kramer is nominated alongside Tim Supple, whose touring production of A Midsummer Night's Dream was staged at the Roundhouse, and Rachel O'Riordan, who is nominated for the Lyric Belfast's production of Much Ado About Nothing.
Bushell also has London company in her category, where she is joined by Marion Bailey, who is nominated for her performance in Shared Experience's Kindertransport, a production that was seen at the Hampstead in April. The category is completed by Meg Fraser, nominated for All My Sons at the Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh.
The Lyric Hammersmith's third nomination comes in the category of Best Show For Children And Young People, where its production of Watership Down competes with the Lyric Belfast's Pinocchio and Citizens's Yellow Moon (The Ballad Of Leila And Lee).
Patrick Stewart is the household name in the Best Performance In A Play category. The classical actor turned starship captain turned classical actor is nominated for his eponymous role in Macbeth, which opens at the Gielgud next Wednesday after transferring from Chichester. Stewart is competing against Kate Dickie, who appeared in the National Theatre of Scotland's Aalst, which made its London bow at the Soho, and Barbara Marten, nominated for Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? at the Royal Exchange.
London theatres fare well in the Best New Play category. Polly Stenham's That Face, which debuted at the Royal Court, is nominated alongside the Hampstead co-production, Taking Care Of Baby, and the Royal Exchange's Monster.
Henry Goodman receives a nomination for Best Performance In A Musical for his portrayal of Tevye in Fiddler On The Roof, a performance which can currently be enjoyed at the Savoy. The National Theatre's production of The Seafarer runs in the Best Touring Production category alongside Cheek By Jowl's Three Sisters and National Theatre Of Scotland's The Wonderful World Of Dissocia, seen in London at the Royal Court.
In the dance and opera categories, Breakin' Convention and Opera North's Peter Grimes, which were both seen at Sadler's Wells, receive nominations.
The Theatrical Management Association Theatre Awards, which celebrate the very best in regional theatre, will be announced at a ceremony held at the Hampstead on 21 October.
