West End regular Victoria Hamilton-Barritt and former Let It Be star James Fox will join Willemijn Verkaik when the former Wicked actress appears in her own solo concert at the Ambassadors Theatre later this month.
The concert, which promises a magical and intimate evening with the Dutch musical theatre star, will take place on 25 August.
Hamilton-Barritt, whose numerous West End musical credits include A Chorus Line, Flashdance and Grease, returns to the London stage following her recent performance in the London premiere of In The Heights at Southwark Playhouse.
Former Fame Academy contestant Fox is probably best known to West End audiences for playing Let It Be’s Paul McCartney in all three of the hit The Beatles concert’s runs in the capital prior to its current residency at the Garrick Theatre.
Hosted by theatre journalist Ben Hewis, Willemijn Verkaik In Concert will take audiences on a journey through some of the greatest classic and contemporary musicals of all time with live band accompaniment.
The only actress to have performed the role of Wicked’s Elphaba in multiple languages, Verkaik will also celebrate some of the iconic songs that have defined her career so far. In addition to the Oz-set musical’s green-skinned witch, the international star’s career has seen her appear in Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown The Musical in the West End and in overseas productions of Mamma Mia! and We Will Rock You.
The West End concert, which Verkaik will follow with a pair of shows in New York later that week, will take over the Ambassadors Theatre in between performances of percussion sensation Stomp, which continues its performance schedule as normal.
