When you’re in a two-hander – a cast of two people, often playing multiple roles between them – then you’ve got to be in sync with your on-stage partner. In fact, after weeks of rehearsals, we were willing to bet that Douglas Booth and Clifford Samuel, of A Guide For The Homesick, would positively be able to finish one another’s sentences.
So we put their theatrical friendship to the ultimate test: a two-headed interview, in which both were only allowed to say one word at a time. What would they be able to tell us about the show at Trafalgar Studios? How would they perform? What’s their two-headed interview technique like? A Guide For The Homesick follows two strangers, Teddy (Samuel) and Jeremy (Booth), away in Amsterdam. One is searching for a friend for the night – the other, a beer. But despite being seemingly worlds apart, these two strangers are destined to find one another. Can they overcome their own secrets and doubts, and confess their greatest fears to one another?
