Hit family show The Gruffalo, which is spending Christmas at the Duchess theatre, has extended its current London run.
Originally scheduled to run until 4 January, tickets for the child-friendly caper are in such high demand that the production, inspired by a popular children’s book, will now run for an extra week, closing on 11 January.
The Gruffalo follows the exploits of a clever mouse who sets off to hunt for hazelnuts in a forest full of hungry predators. With only a map and his imagination for company, he is met by a wheeler-dealer fox, an eccentric owl and a maraca-shaking, partying snake, but the mouse manages to scare them all off with the tales of his imaginary monster friend the Gruffalo.
First staged by Tall Stories in 2006, The Gruffalo has quickly become one of the most popular children’s productions around, touring the UK, North America and worldwide.
While The Gruffalo continues to entertain families during the day at the Duchess, Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story keeps audiences rocking at night. The musical telling the story of the meteoric rise and sudden death of singer/songwriter Holly runs until 7 February.
