Grieve drags himself into Priscilla

Published 4 February 2011

Australian TV star Richard Grieve is to join the cast of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical at the Palace theatre from 7 March.

Grieve, who replaces Ben Richards in the role of mixed-up father and drag queen Tick, has played regular characters in popular Australian soaps Neighbours and Home & Away. In 2007 he joined the cast of UK soap Emmerdale as Jonny Foster. He has also appeared in UK stage tours of Footloose The Musical and Dial M For Murder.

Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical, which opened at the Palace theatre in March 2009, is based on the Oscar-winning 1994 film and tells the story of two drag queens and a transsexual who take their glamorous performing act to the middle of the Australian Outback. Encountering hostile locals and a friendly mechanic named Bob, the trio end up finding more than they could have dreamed of.

Grieve joins a cast that includes Don Gallagher as Bernadette, original cast member Oliver Thornton as Adam and, until 5 March, Grieve’s former Home & Away co-star Ray Meagher as Bob.

Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical is currently booking to 7 January 2012.
