Alex Kingston, David Dawson and Finty Williams are among those joining Felicity Jones in Michael Grandage’s production of Schiller’s Luise Miller at the Donmar Warehouse from 8 June.
Kingston, who plays Lady Milford in Schiller’s tale of love, greed and power, is probably still best known for her long-running role in American drama ER. On stage her work includes One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest at the Garrick theatre, Morning And Evening at the Hampstead and Darwin’s Blood at the Bush theatre.
Dawson has been a regular on the London stage of late, appearing in Posh at the Royal Court, Comedians at the Lyric Hammersmith and The Entertainer at the Old Vic. Williams was recently seen in Peter Hall’s production of Twelfth Night at the National Theatre as well as Bedlam at Shakespeare’s Globe and Bedroom Farce at the Duke of York’s theatre.
Also joining the cast is Max Bennett as nobleman’s son Ferdinand, who is willing to give up his fortune for the love of Jones’s Luise, a humble musician’s daughter. Bennett previously worked with director Grandage on Danton’s Death at the National Theatre and was also seen in Mrs Warren’s Profession at the Comedy theatre and Waste at the Almeida theatre.
The cast is completed by London stage regulars John Light (The Master Builder, A New World), Paul Higgins (Black Watch, The White Guard) and Ben Daniels (The Wild Duck and The God Of Hell at the Donmar), along with Lloyd Everitt and Alexander Pritchett.
Luise Miller, which opens at the Covent Garden venue following Moonlight, is the penultimate production Grandage will direct as Artistic Director of the Donmar Warehouse. He will step down at the end of 2011 after a decade in charge, bowing out with a production of Richard II starring Eddie Redmayne.
His 2011 programme also includes Anna Christie, directed by Rob Ashford, and Inadmissible Evidence, directed by Jamie Lloyd.
Current Bush theatre Artistic Director Josie Rourke takes over from Grandage in 2012.
