It’s almost panto season. Oh, no it’s not! Fine, it’s not. But we’re counting down the days until it is… especially with today’s announcement. This Christmas, for a strictly limited run, Julian Clary, Paul Zerdin, and Nigel Havers will be returning to the London Palladium for Snow White. And joining them is comedic legend Dawn French.
From the Olivier Award-winning team behind last year’s Dick Whittington, Snow White will play for five weeks only. Dawn will play the role of The Wicked Witch, Julian will be the Man In The Mirror, Paul will play Muddles, and Nigel will be The Understudy. Joining them will be Gary Wilmot as Mrs Crumble, Vincent and Flavia as The King and The Queen and Josh Bennett, Simeon Dyer, Craig Garner, Ben Goffe, Jamie John, Blake Lisle and Andrew Martin as The Magnificent Seven.
Snow White will be Dawn’s pantomime debut, but she’s no stranger to the West End. The actor, writer and half of the comedy duo French And Saunders last tread the boards in 2016 in her critically acclaimed one-woman show 30 Million Minutes at the Vaudeville Theatre. Her previous stage credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, An Evening with French and Saunders, Le Fille du Regiment, Side by Side by Sondheim, and Silly Cow.
Panto fave and the ever-incredible Julian will be returning to London Palladium for a third year following his triumphant successes as The Spirit of the Bells in Dick Whittington and Dandini in Cinderella. Paul and Nigel will also be making their third appearances following their turns as Idle Jack in Dick Whittington and as Buttons in Cinderella, and Captain Nigel in Dick Whittington and Lord Chamberlain in Cinderella respectively.
Gary will be returning for his second London Palladium pantomime after starring in last year’s Dick Whittington. His extensive career has seen him appear in The Wind in the Willows, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Pajama Game, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and more.
Casting for The Prince and Snow White are yet to be announced… I guess they have to sleep on it. Snow White will play from 8 December 2018 – 13 January 2019.
