Today, The Old Vic has announced that Olivier Award-winner Giles Terera will be joining the cast of Arthur Miller’s The American Clock and will play the roles of Robertson and Moe 3. He joins the previously announced cast Amber Aga, Paul Bentall, Greg Bernstein, Clare Burt, Flora Dawson, Abhin Galeya, Fred Haig, Jyuddah Jaymes, John Marquez, Francesca Mills, Taheen Modak, Christian Patterson, Golda Rosheuvel, Abdul Salis, Josie Walker and Ewan Wardrop.
Giles rose to mega-fame when he took on the role of Aaron Burr in the multi-Olivier Award-winning musical, Hamilton. He’s also known for his appearances in Avenue Q, Hamlet and the TV show Horrible Histories.
The American Clock is set in New York City in 1929. It’s a time when fortunes are made and lives are broken. But when the stock market crashes, everything changes. Telling the story of the Baums – a once wealthy family who are now attempting to navigate the maelstrom of an unprecedented financial crisis. And when they leave their home in Manhattan to live with family in Brooklyn, how will their lives and dreams change?
This production will be directed by Rachel Chavkin and will celebrate the evolution of the American family unit. For each performance, three actors will take on the roles of each Baum family member – Moe, Rose, and Lee.
The ground-breaking play about hope, idealism and an unwavering faith in capitalism will open 13 February with previews from 4 February 2019. The American Clock will be followed by a second Arthur Miller play, All My Sons, which will star Sally Fields, Bill Pullman, Jenna Coleman, and Colin Morgan.
