Ghosts Stories set to terrify the West End

First Published 16 April 2010, Last Updated 16 April 2010

The Lyric Hammersmith’s chilling show Ghost Stories has announced it will transfer to the West End this summer, opening at the Duke of York’s Theatre this June.

Ghost Stories sees three men gather, each with a spooky tale to divulge to the audience. With stage effects and ghostly goings on, the show prides itself on the ability to make the audience scream with its terrifying twists.

After opening at the Lyric Hammersmith on 1 March 2010, the production extended its original run by two weeks and will close at the venue this Saturday 17 April. The show will then transfer to the Duke of York’s from 25 June where it is currently booking to 7 November.

Billed as including “moments of extreme shock and tension”, Ghost Stories was created by The League Of Gentlemen writer Jeremy Dyson and director Andy Nyman, who is best known for his work with Derren Brown, recently co-directing Brown’s stage show Enigma. The production is directed by Sean Holmes, artistic director of the Lyric Hammersmith.

Talking about the transfer, Holmes commented: “I’m delighted that Ghost Stories is transferring to the Duke of York’s. Not only is the transfer a fantastic endorsement for a brilliant production but also an amazing way to end my first season at the Lyric”.

The production was co-produced by the Lyric Hammersmith and the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse. Gemma Bodinetz, artistic director of the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, added: “After terrifying and delighting in equal measure we feel sure that Ghost Stories will be a remarkable addition to the West End and are very proud to be associated with it”.
