Tensions will be running high at the Arts Theatre until summer 2014 following the announcement that Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman’s hit show Ghost Stories has extended its run at the venue to 17 August.
The fear-inducing production, which recounts several people’s tales of supernatural happenings, was originally booking to 24 May.
Billed as a “terrifying theatrical experience”, Ghost Stories features a cast that includes Paul Kemp, Philip Whitchurch, Dino Fetscher and Chris Levens.
Written by The League Of Gentleman’s Dyson and Derren Brown’s award-winning collaborator Nyman, the production first opened at the Lyric Hammersmith in 2010 before transferring to the West End.
At its recent opening night at the Arts Theatre, The Telegraph’s theatre critic and self-confessed wimp Charles Spencer described it as “a show that constantly grips, racking up the tension with cruel precision before springing sudden shocks and horrible reveals that make the audience scream with terror.”
Ghost Stories is suitable only for theatregoers aged 15 or older and, due to the show’s “moments of severe shock and tension”, those of a nervous disposition are advised to think twice before attending.
