Exposure The Musical – Life Through A Lens, which receives its world premiere at St James Theatre this summer, will tell its tuneful tale with the help of iconic pictures from Getty Images archive.

The brand new show with a book, music and lyrics by Mike Dyer tells the story of a young photographer with an unusual commission and runs at the Victoria venue from 16 July to 27 August.

With dramaturgy and direction by Phil Willmott, Exposure The Musical tells the tale of Jimmy Tucker, who’s challenged to photograph the seven deadly sins in modern London. As he charges through his mission, it leads him into extraordinary encounters with former flames, delves into family history and reveals there may be more at stake than money.

Speaking about the project, Matthew Butson, Vice President of Getty Images Archive, said: “Imagery is the universal language of our time and Getty Images believes that pictures have the power to move the world. We are thrilled to partner with Exposure and we are extremely excited at the prospect of our imagery being used – both creatively and innovatively – within a theatrical setting.”

Dyer’s eclectic musical career has seen him appear in musicals including Blood Brothers and Jesus Christ Superstar, but also tour the world with his bands Tokyo and Rhode Island Red, performing alongside Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Bon Jovi.

Casting for Exposure The Musical – Life Through A Lens is yet to be announced.

Exposure runs at the St James Theatre following another new musical, Miss Atomic Bomb, which is currently running until 9 April, and the plays My Mother Said I Never Should (13 April to 21 May) and Sideways (26 May to 9 July).
