Coronation Street, Grange Hill and Strictly Come Dancing star Georgia May Foote will lead the cast of new play Napoli, Brooklyn this summer.
The show will commence a UK tour in May, before playing a four-week season at the Park Theatre from 13 June until 13 July. Georgia will be joined in the cast by Robert Cavanah (previous credits including Queen Anne, RSC), Madeleine Worrall (Paddington; Kingdom Come, RSC) and Laurie Ogden (To Kill A Mockingbird, Lyric Hammersmith).
The European premiere cast of Napoli, Brooklyn will also star Hannah Bristow, Mona Goodwin, Gloria Onitiri and Stephen Hogan.
Along with her extensive screen credits, Georgia May Foote is no stranger to the stage, having starred in the 2016 UK tour of Breakfast At Tiffany’s (her professional stage debut). She shared the central role of Holly Golightly with the likes of Pixie Lott and Emily Atack. Along with playing Alison Simmons in Grange Hill and Katy Armstrong in Coronation Street, Georgia reached the final of Strictly Come Dancing in 2015, finishing as joint runner-up with her partner Giovanni Pernice.
Meghan Kennedy’s play Napoli, Brooklyn started life Off-Broadway at the Laura Pels Theatre in New York, where it won critical acclaim for a production presented by the Roundabout Theatre Company.
The story follows an Italian-American family in 1959, and explores the struggles faced by immigrant families across numerous generations, particularly for women. To break through them, they’ll have to take massive risks, conceal drastic secrets – and confront their conflicting visions for the future.
