Full casting has been announced for Elinor Cook’s new version of Ibsen’s masterpiece The Lady From The Sea at the Donmar Warehouse.
Along with the previously announced Nikki Amuka-Bird (Small Island, BBC One) as Ellida, the production will star Ellie Bamber (High Society, The Old Vic) as Hilde, Jake Fairbrother (Twelfth Night, Crucible/ETT) as The Stranger, Jim Findley (Doctor Who, BBC) as The Stranger, Jonny Holden (Blood Stained Tree, Young Vic) as Lynstrand, Finbar Lynch (The Silence Of The Sea, West End) as Dr Wangel, Tom McKay (Frost/Nixon, Donmar) as Arnholm, and Helena Wilson (Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead, Old Vic) as Bolette.
Following his production of the Olivier Award-nominated One Night in Miami…. Donmar Associate Director Kwame Kwei-Armah returns to direct Ibsen’s moving play about duty and self-determination, which sees Ellida, the lighthouse-keeper’s daughter, trapped in her marriage and longing for the sea.
When a former lover returns from years of absence, Ellida is forced to decide between freedom and the new life she has made for herself.
The Lady From The Sea plays from Thursday 12 October – Saturday 2 December.
