As rehearsals begin, full casting has been announced for Hamlet at the Almeida Theatre, led by Sherlock star Andrew Scott in his debut at the venue.
Andrew will co-star with acclaimed actress Juliet Stevenson, who plays Gertrude, in a new production of Shakespeare’s dramatic masterpiece directed by Almeida Associate Director Robert Icke. Jessica Brown Findlay (Ophelia) and Luke Thompson (Laertes) will also star at the North London venue.
Barry Aird, Elliot Barnes-Worrell, Marty Cruickshank, Calum Findlay, Joshua Higgott, Amaka Okafor, Daniel Rabin, David Rintoul, Peter Wight, Angus Wright and Matthew Wynn complete the cast.
Hamlet is designed by Hildegard Bechtler, with lighting by Natasha Chivers, sound by Tom Gibbons, and video design by Tal Yarden. The Associate Director is Daniel Raggett. Casting is by Julia Horan.
The production begins previewing on Friday 17 February, with a press night on Tuesday 28 February.
