Dimitri Leonidas, Ian McElhinney and Justin Salinger are to join the previously announced Ruth Wilson in the Almeida theatre production of Through A Glass Darkly.
The Andrew Upton adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s film opens at the Islington venue on 16 June, following previews from 10 June, and runs until 31 July.
The production, directed by Almeida Artistic Director Michael Attenborough, stars Wilson as Karin, a troubled wife, sister and daughter who goes on holiday with the three men in her life. As the males argue about the best way to help her, Karin realises she must help herself.
Through A Glass Darkly reunites Attenborough and McElhinney, who have previously worked together on productions including There Came A Gypsy Riding at the Almeida theatre, Observe The Sons Of Ulster Marching Towards The Somme at the Hampstead theatre and Amphibians for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
It also marks the professional stage debut of Leonidas, who has previously worked on television in Doctors, The Bill and Grange Hill, and in films Tormented, Fairy Tale and Centurion.
Final cast member Salinger is a regular at the National Theatre, where he has appeared in productions including Our Class, The Seagull, Pillars Of The Community, Dealer’s Choice and, most recently, The Cat In The Hat.
Before Through A Glass Darkly takes to the stage, the Almeida theatre presents the European premiere of Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Ruined, which opens later this week.
