Full cast announced for The Seagull

First Published 11 May 2015, Last Updated 11 May 2015

Danny Webb will join Janie Dee, Sabrina Bartlett and Matthew Tennyson in the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s forthcoming production of The Seagull.

Webb, whose recent stage credits include The Mistress Contract and The Witness at the Royal Court, will take on the role of Eugene Dorn when the Chekhov classic is brought to the stunning surroundings of the royal park from 19 June to 11 July.

The Alien 3 and Henry VIII actor joins the previously announced trio alongside Alex Robertson (London Wall, St James Theatre), who plays Boris Trigorin in the tale of a group of guests who come together at a country house to stage an avant-garde play.

Completing the cast are Lisa Palfrey (The Kitchen Sink, Bush Theatre), Being Human and Derek star Colin Hoult, Fraser James (Liberian Girl, Royal Court), Lisa Diveney (Donkey Heart, Trafalgar Studios), Ian Redford (Helen, Shakespeare’s Globe), Tom Greaves and Belgian choreographer Tara D’Arquian

Adapted by Torben Betts, the production follows the country house guests as they begin to assemble their show, only for a more entertaining drama to unfold behind the scenes as romantic jealousies, self-doubt and the ruthless pursuit of happiness confuse lives, loves and literature.

Directed by Matthew Dunster, The Seagull will open at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre following the first production in the venue’s season, Peter Pan, which begins its run on 15 May.
