Following a one-off concert performance at the Queen’s theatre last year, Stiles and Drewe’s new musical Soho Cinders will receive its world premiere at the Soho theatre this August.
Featuring a star-studded cast including Olivier Award-winning Jenna Russell, Love Story’s Michael Xavier and the voice of presenter, actor and Twitter legend Stephen Fry, Soho Cinders is a fun and edgy musical celebrating the capital’s most colourful district.
A contemporary take on the tale of Cinderella, the show’s story revolves around impoverished student Robbie, the brother of two lap-dancing stepsisters, who becomes romantically involved with the already engaged Mayoral candidate James Prince.
Soho Cinders is the latest musical born from the writing partnership of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, whose 1999 show Honk! won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
Directed by Jonathan Butterell, whose credits include Into The Woods at the Donmar Warehouse and Assassins and Fiddler On The Roof on Broadway, Soho Cinders will also star Clive Carter, Suzie Chard, Amy Lennox and Beverly Rudd, with further casting still to be announced.
The production will play at the intimate new writing venue from 2 August to 9 September.
