New Tim Rice musical From Here To Eternity has announced it will close in April after a seven month run at the Shaftesbury theatre.
The Pearl Harbor-set production, which features lyrics by the award-winning lyricist, opened at the venue last month, when it was described by Official London Theatre’s Charlotte Marshall as “A truly grown-up musical” with “stunning choreography”.
Directed by Tamara Harvey, the production’s cast includes Darius Campbell, Rebecca Thornhill, Siubhan Harrison, Robert Lonsdale, Ryan Samson and Marc Antolin.
Based on James Jones’ 1951 novel, From Here To Eternity tells the story of the soldiers of G Company who are stationed in Hawaii during the Second World War. As platoon sergeant Milt Warden begins an affair with his commanding officer’s wife and Private Prewitt falls for a kind-hearted escort girl, war approaches the island and the lives of the four individuals are set to change forever.
While From Here To Eternity, which features music by Stuart Brayson and a book by Bill Oakes, will come to the end of its run on 26 April, it has not yet been announced what will follow the musical into the West End venue.
