Free tickets announced for Hyde Park shows

First Published 5 June 2013, Last Updated 5 June 2013

A whopping 4,000 free theatre tickets have been made available for London primary school children as part of British Summer Time Hyde Park, a Barclaycard event taking place in the iconic Royal Park next month.

Two productions – The Golden Cowpat and Superhero Snail Boy – which are both co-produced by Greenwich theatre will play at the Barclaycard Unwind theatre in the Piazza from 8 to 11 July before transferring to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Billed as “a laugh-out-loud interactive fairy-tale” and suitable for children aged three and older, Tucked In’s The Golden Cowpat combines storytelling, puppetry and original music to tell a charming tale about Hector the farmer, Betty the cantankerous cow and their adventure to find their fortunes in the big city.

Co-produced by Vertical Line Theatre, Superhero Snail Boy, which receives its premiere at the event, is Elizabeth Muncey’s new play for children aged eight and older and follows Inari and Tilly as they deal with some of the toughest moments of growing up, discover the joys of smashing plates and inherit wisdom from a wise old snail.

Playing as part of a 10-day event, which takes place from 5 to 14 July, the two shows will be complemented by an array of activities for children of all ages as well as performances of family favourites The Gruffalo, Horrible Histories and Brainiac.

To reserve your free place, visit the British Summer Time Hyde Park website or call Greenwich theatre on 020 8858 4447.
