Hadley Fraser has joined the cast of the forthcoming epic 25th anniversary performances of The Phantom Of The Opera at the Royal Albert Hall.
Phantom producer Cameron Mackintosh and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber also announced that the previously confirmed principal cast, which includes Ramin Karimloo (the Phantom) and Sierra Boggess (Christine), will be joined on stage by Kiera Duffy, Sergei Polunin and Daisy Maywood.
Fraser will play leading lady Christine’s love interest Raoul. The musical actor is currently starring in another long-running Cameron Mackintosh musical, Les Misérables at the Queen’s theatre, and took part in the 25th Anniversary Concert at the O2 last year.
The actor’s other credits include West End productions of The Far Pavilions and The Fantasticks, and The Pirate Queen on Broadway.
Duffy (Carlotta) is a soprano soloist who has sung with the London Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonic. Polunin (Slave Master) is an award-winning dancer who joined the Royal Ballet at the age of 13 and is now a Principal in the much lauded dance company.
Maywood, who most recently appeared in the West End covering and playing the role of Eponine in Les Misérables, will play Christine’s friend and confident Meg Giry.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom Of The Opera has played at Her Majesty’s theatre since opening on 9 October 1986. Based on Gaston Leroux’s gothic novel, the dramatic musical tells the story of life beneath the Paris Opera House.
The anniversary production plays at the iconic venue on 1 and 2 October and will feature a cast and orchestra of over 200.
