Never Forget, the musical based on the songs of 90s boy band Take That, has announced it is extending booking at the Savoy by three weeks to 15 November, prior to an intended move to another, as yet unnamed, West End theatre for an open-ended run.
Never Forget opened at the Savoy on 21 May and already thousands of theatregoers – including countless hen parties – have flocked to the theatre to sing along to the show’s many famous tunes, including Pray, A Million Love Songs, Back For Good and Relight My Fire.
The show’s producer Charlie Parsons commented: “We have been delighted by the overwhelming response the show has had in London. This next stage in the production’s journey is the most exciting to date”.
Rather than based on the story of the boy-turned-man band itself, Never Forget has a story by Shameless writer Danny Brocklehurst which follows the fortunes of a Manchester-based Take That tribute band, hastily assembled to enter a talent contest. While frontman Ash joins the band in order to pay off his mum’s mounting debts, success tests his love and loyalty as Ash must decide how far he will go in his pursuit of the ultimate prize.
The show’s cast includes Dean Chisnall, Craige Els, Stephane Anelli and Tim Driesen, who are choreographed by Laurence Olivier Award-winner Karen Bruce (Saturday Night Fever, Footloose, Fame).
The show’s producers are yet to confirm which theatre will be hosting Never Forget after its run at the Savoy comes to an end.
No further productions have yet been announced for the Savoy.
