Still thinking about the fact you missed the Olivier award-winning show Follies when it was at The National last year? Or maybe you bagged a seat and haven’t stopped thinking about how spectacular the show was?
Whatever type of Follies audience member you fall into, there’s good news for you: it’s returning, and production images have now been released.
Written by Stephen Sondheim, it’s all about the former star performers of Weismann’s Follies, who reunite on the eve of the theatre’s destruction. Featuring beautiful songs including Losing My Mind, I’m Still Here and Broadway Baby, the performers share their tales of regret, sorrow and unrequited love.
And the show has done pretty well for itself, with its 2017 production receiving 10 Olivier Award nominations, and taking home two, including Best Musical Revival.
The 40-strong cast includes Olivier nominated actresses Tracie Bennett (who’s returning to her 2017 role), and Janie Dee.
And if you can’t wait until you see it live in front of you, a cast recording is now available, featuring the show’s original cast and orchestra.
Follies is on now at the National Theatre, and will run until 11 May 2019.
