Strictly Come Dancing’s Robin Windsor and Kristina Rihanoff will swap the screen for the stage next year when they star in a new production of dance extravaganza Burn The Floor at the Shaftesbury theatre.
Featuring new choreography, music and orchestrations, the dance show, which first brought the fire and passion of latin and ballroom dancing to the venue in 2010, will play a limited season from 6 March (press night 11 March).
Billed as the “ultimate ballroom spectacular”, Burn The Floor takes audiences on a journey through the passionate drama of dance, from Harlem’s Hot Nights at The Savoy, where dances such as the lindy, foxtrot and charleston were born, to the Latin Quarter, where the cha-cha, rumba and salsa steamed up the stage, incorporating everything from the Viennese waltz and the quickstep to the tango and samba.
The world renowned show has been seen by audiences in more than 300 cities worldwide and brings together the talents of 18 award-winning international dancers.
Joining Windsor and Rihanoff on the Shaftesbury’s stage will be globetrotting dancer and Strictly newcomer Karen Hauer, who was one of the principal dancers in Burn The Floor throughout 2010 and 2011.
Next year is set to be a Strictly Come Dancing spectacular following the announcement that the Olivier Award-winning show Midnight Tango, starring fellow Strictly dancers Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace, will return to play a limited five-week season at the Phoenix theatre from 30 January to 2 March.
It has not yet been announced what will happen to 1980s rock musical Rock Of Ages, which currently resides at the Shaftesbury theatre.
