Go Eugenius! cast, go Eugene! The first snaps are in of Rob Houchen rehearsing playing everybody’s favourite musical superhero, Eugenius!, as the show gears up for its second The Other Palace run.
Back to save the universe and transport you to a world of comic books, catchy tunes and quirky characters in that most glorious of decades – the 1980s – Eugenius! is a musical penned by Ben Adams (of A1 fame) and Chris Wilkins, and has already won numerous fans at its Victoria home earlier this year.
And now, with rehearsals underway for the new cast, the Eugenius! superheroes are looking ready to soar into entertaining action once more, with Houchen joining the cast as the titular lead, along with Neil McDermott (Evil Lord Hector), Emily Tierney (Carrie/Super Hot Lady), Alex Bourne (Lex) and Simon Thomas (Gerhard/Tough Man). Take a look below (all photos by Nik Dudley).
Eugenius! is a teenage love story at heart, telling the story of Eugene, a teenage boy whose nightly dreams of a distant world of heroes and villains may just be the ticket to him creating his very own comic book movie in Hollywood.
Joined by his best friends ‘Janey’ – who’s mad for him, except for when he has his head inside a comic book – and ‘Feris’, our comic writing genius must discover the true meaning of growing up. To do so, Eugene is forced to find the superhero within, saving the world from both earthbound villains – and possibly those from distant galaxies – and, along the way, falling in love.
Eugenius! returns to The Other Palace from 1 September.
