You don’t need to cry for Argentina to get a sneaky glimpse of the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of Evita. In fact, we’ve got Evita photos right here!
Directed by Jamie Lloyd, the title role of Eva Peron is played by Samantha Pauly. Although Samantha has appeared in previous productions of Evita before, this is her UK debut. A Chicago-based singer, Samantha is already known over in America for appearing in US productions of Six and Bat Out Of Hell.
Playing her husband Juan is Ektor Rivera, who’s well-known for his adventures on Q’Viva! The Chosen, an American reality TV series. While the narrator role of Che is played by Trent Saunders, and Augustin Magaldi is played by Adam Pearce.
Written by the dynamic duo of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, you can expect to already know some of the classic songs from this show, including Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, Oh What A Circus, You Must Love Me, and Another Suitcase in Another Hall.
Evita tells the true story of the First Lady of Argentina, Eva Peron. Beginning her life in poverty, she rose to become a spiritual leader of Argentina who championed the rights and needs of those less fortunate than her. Her ambition, glamour and power made her the world’s first major political celebrity, winning the adoration of the people and becoming a story known throughout the world.
