Be still out beating Hart! Actually, scrap that. You dance like the wind, Roxie! Last month it was announced that The X Factor and musical theatre star, Alexandra Burke will join Martin Kemp in Chicago. She will be joining the cast from Monday 13 August but you don’t have to wait that long to see her as the legendary murderer.
Today, we’ve got a sneak peek at Alexandra donning the black lace and bold red lip as the sultry Roxie.
Alexandra will appear in Chicago fresh from her recent turn in Chess at the London Coliseum. She made her West End debut playing Rachel Marron in The Bodyguard. She initially rose to fame as the 2008 winner of The X Factor. The single she released after winning the show, Hallelujah, was the top-selling single of 2008 and sold over 1 million copies in the UK alone. Last year, she was a finalist in BBC’s celeb ballroom competition, Strictly Come Dancing.
Chicago is based on Maurine Dallas Watkins’ 1926 play of the same name. Set in prohibition Chicago, the show tells the story of two rival performers – and murderesses – locked up in the same County Jail, and satirises corruption within the criminal justice system. Expect sexy, sassy and dangerously seductive songs, dance and events to unfold.
Alexandra will be play Roxie until Saturday 14 October.
