Family Sundays and half-term fun at the Albany theatre

First Published 22 September 2011, Last Updated 22 September 2011

It may feel like the kids have just gone back to school but the Albany theatre has already organised a host of family fun to keep you busy during the autumn half-term.

Running from 24 to 28 October, the theatre will entertain 2-7 year olds with storytelling on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Entitled Once Upon A Time, the stories promise to transport little theatregoers to a magical world.

For those looking to get messy, the theatre will be taken over by Crafty Corner on Tuesday and Thursday. Inspired by their forthcoming show The Magician’s Daughter, children can create their own enchanted island with plenty of glitter on offer.

If you can’t wait until half-term, the Albany theatre also programmes special family Sundays with everything from under-5s discos to puppetry shows on offer this autumn. Highlights include The Snow Dragon, a magical adventure from Tall Stories, the theatre company behind The Gruffalo and Room On A Broom, a wintery wonderland in the shape of Lyngo Theatre’s Snowplay, and a new adaptation of the classic children’s book Stig Of The Dump.

Christmas will see the arrival of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s co-production with the Little Angel Theatre, The Magician’s Daughter. Inspired by The Tempest, the show uses puppets to bring the tale of the girl living on a magical island to life and is suitable for children aged three and above.

For full details of all the family fun on offer at the Deptford venue, visit the Albany theatre’s website.
