The Lyric Theatre will host the world premiere of Fame sequel Fame Forever later this year when the productions plays for one night only at the West End venue.
Playing on 8 September, the follow-up production of the smash-hit musical revisits the characters 20 years after their graduation from La Guardia High School of Music & Art as they embark on a new emotional journey.
Conceived and developed by the producer of the Academy Award-winning film David De Silva, the musical presents Serena Katz as an English teacher, her former high school sweetheart Nick Piazza as a rich TV star, Tyrone Jackson with his own dance company and Mabel Washington as a weather girl with a daughter attending her former school.
Featuring music by Fame’s original composer Steve Margoshes and a book and lyrics by Ben H Winters, Fame Forever will feature affectionate nods to the original musical, a plot that promises to “satisfy the stagiest of appetites and the most romantic of hearts”, and a rendition of the original musical’s title track.
The production will play at the home of Michael Jackson tribute Thriller Live prior to a UK tour next year.
