Prior to its launch concert on 27 April new ‘unplugged’ album West End Switched Off, which features performers including Simon Bailey, Rebecca Trehearn and Alice Fearn, has given us three exclusive tasters of the treats in store.
The album, which will be available on iTunes, Amazon and beyond from 28 April, gives musical theatre fans a chance to hear stars of the West End giving a collection of their favourite show tunes a new acoustic facelift.
Before the album has even hit the street, or the internet, audiences can see its stars performing live at a launch concert at the intimate St James Studio, a fantastic intimate space for the stripped back show tunes, on Sunday 27 April.
I Can’t Sing’s Bailey, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels The Musical’s Fearn and Wicked’s Sophie Linder-Lee and Emma Hatton will join West End performers including Chlöe Hart, Adrian Hansel and Dean John-Wilson to give the exciting new arrangements their first public airing. Tickets are £15 and can be bought from the St James Theatre website.
Before then, of course, you can listen to a trio of taster clips exclusively right here. Enjoy Hart and Thomas Sutcliffe performing a duet version of Wicked’s Defying Gravity, Bailey singing The Little Mermaid’s Part Of Your World, and Cool Rider star Ashleigh Gray singing Over The Rainbow from The Wizard Of Oz.
