Ennio Marchetto will be the second quick-change artist to visit London this autumn when Ennio: The Paper Cartoon plays at the Southbank Centre from 11 to 20 December.
The Laurence Olivier Award-nominee’s visit coincides with that of the previously announced Arturo Brachetti, whose show Change runs at the Garrick theatre from 19 October to 3 January.
Skilled in the Italian art of quick-change, Marchetto uses paper costumes and physical comedy to quickly morph into a succession of parodies of famous celebrities. Backed by an eclectic soundtrack, Marchetto takes on everyone from Lady Gaga to Santa Claus to Take That in a display of technical ingenuity and physical dexterity.
Marchetto was previously seen on the London stage at the Lyric Hammersmith and Whitehall theatre (now Trafalgar Studios) in 1993, collecting a nomination for Best Entertainment at the Laurence Olivier Awards later that year.
Ennio: The Paper Cartoon plays the Southbank Centre as part of a UK tour.
